Sheelagh Antrobus from African Conservation Trust was invited to speak to the school about rhino poaching in February this year. We were informed about their drive to raise funds by skydiving. The minimum amount needed per skydiver was R5 000. She challenged our girls to support this worthy drive. The school had already raised funds for the organisation and their cause through a civies day.
The challenge was for the girls to raise these funds privately. Six of our learners, Georgina Dean, Olivia Broadley, Kayleigh Walker, Rebecca Pinnell, Holley Perrett and Alice Pearse were successful in raising R5 000.00 and more.
The skydive took place on Sunday 19 August at the Angels Way Farm in Eston.
Rebecca's first comment as she landed was "Please can I go back??".
So far, the campaign has raised over R4million.
