‘This beautiful little spot forms part of my early morning running route. I've been waiting patiently for the Helichrysum cooperi to start flowering so that I can paint them in this landscape. This week I swopped a run for a plein air session. It was pure bliss to be up close with the birds, totally enraptured by this beautiful view.’ Said Carol Cox of her time painting the scene pictured here top.
‘Plein air painting’ is a term coined by the French and means to paint outdoors in nature in the fresh air, an art form which the KZN Midlands provides innumerable opportunities to practice.
Carol’s favourite subjects are birds and botany. You may spot her behind her easel when you are out for a ride, run, walk or picnic in and around the KZN Midlands.
Her artworks will be available at the annual Harcourts Hilton ART in the Country exhibition which happens in May at Harrington House.
Contact Carol on 083 973 9555 to find out more about her workshops at her home studio or in a nearby meadow.
